The Division of Emergency Medical Services and Health & Safety was developed in 2021 as a new Division in Operations. This Division is tasked with development and administration of EMS and health & safety for the department. The Division serves as the liaison between the medical director and our fire department to ensure appropriate training, certifications, policies, and procedures are adhered to. .
Health and safety is important to operations of the department and the quality of our members. Through the Health and Safety Committee, peer support personnel, and critical incident monitoring the Division Chief of EMS assists the Deputy Chief of Operations in maintaining an effective workforce and safe working conditions.
Each year medical training requirements are met through training on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) skills. Some of these skills include scene safety, patient assessment, airway, CPR, IV Access, medication administration.
